Regium board new video

So wise the words about badly wanting to be true. Sounds ridiculously obvious, but really my life would be so much better if i could have truly grasped it. I think even julius cesar (if the quote is authentic) felt necessary to say "men in general are quick to believe that what they wish to be true".
Yeah, we all thought it was a scam. But this video puts that to rest imo. The first video they published was suspicious. In this video you can clearly see the guy making a move and the pieces moving on their own with actual speed .. etc.
@redban

I’ve watched my fair share of magic tricks, and even watched Penn and Teller’s magic show where they show how different tricks are done. I am not fooled by this video.

First of all, there is NO way there is something in a board that thin that would be able to apply a force sufficient enough to slide the pieces over the board. My guess is they had some sort of system under the table with powerful magnets to move the pieces around.

Second, where do you put all the electronics needed in that board? The whole board seems to be 1 cm thick. You need to have the bottom and the upper cover which is going to take away much of the space. Then you need all of the components. Now I know tablets and smartphones these days are quite thin, and you could easily get the processor, power module, bluetooth or Wifi module, and the wiring in there. But after that there would be no space left for whatever would move the pieces.

And lastly, the only way to move the pieces like that is with magnets. Now if they actually had magnets inside the board, then it would need to be A LOT thicker with that. Did you ever hear that you should keep phones away from magnets because they can mess up the screen and other components inside? The same thing applies here. Having the magnets permanently right next to the electronics of the board would mean the board NEVER works. And as I said there is no other way to move those pieces.
Simply enough, when you have to advertise yourself as a MENSA member, you are most certainly a scammer lmao. Also computer tricks can be very realistic. I still think it's a scam.
What if you would want to play Nf3 or Nc3 in the beginning position? Would it jump over?
Apparently the way they advertise it is that the piece in front of the knight would move out of the way and then move back once the move is complete.
There’s still enough to make me suspicious, even setting aside the issue of “is this thing physically possible”:

1. The website says it will work with all these different chess sites, but now the second video says they need the Kickstarter money because they haven’t got very far on this side.

(Also, this is meant to include Lichess, and while the video mentions Chess.com, it doesn’t mention Lichess, who have said they’re definitely not working with Regium and that, if Regium plugged into Lichess by itself, you would look like you were a bot).

2. The status of the project has always been very opaque. The first video suggests they have a finished product, and the site didn’t disabuse this, except that you couldn’t buy it yet. Kickstarter was only mentioned much later and the reasons for it weren’t given until the second video.

3. Things keep disappearing on their page, such as the supposed association with Magnus. I also remember it saying it came with Fritz, but now can’t see that.

Now there could be innocent explanations, but until I see the 50th happy post from Lichess users, I’ll wait.
