Why not show the opening name and variations during game so we can get an idea of the lines we are playing?
During a game outside help isn't really allowed.
The name can't hurt, but I don't think showing variations is a good idea.
I am saying, it would be good if they showed the opening names and variation name currently being played live during game on lichess (just the name) , so we can learn what we are playing better.
know they show this on analysis board but it would be better if it was live...sure most would agree.
just some feedback suggestion. :)

This feature is offered on chess.com and is really helpful. Please add it to lichess. Thank you.

#1 I like the idea although I fear players might complain that it's some sort of outside help.
how is showing a name outside help? chess.com has this?
Miss_Miyagi for example if your opponent play a move that you're not sure that it's theoritical or even just good, and then you see that an opening is named after this move, and that you ever heard about this name in GM analysis or whatever, you may be like, Hmm I'm not going to think about refuting this move cause I know that it's probably a good move, or whatever, u know what I mean
Bad lines have names too. Showing the name is no help at all.
Can you please add the page number of the ECO encyclopedia as well? It always took me way too much time to look it up. Not suitable for Blitz.
