The premise of the question -- "so many of you will never be elite players"
I resent that kind of attitude, that competitiveness etc that says "I only want to play chess if I can win a tournament, get a title, beat somebody and shove it in their face, etc"
Why can't we just enjoy the game, find it interesting, challenge ourselves etc? I mean, when somebody studies history or art or physics do you say, "well, you'll never win a nobel prize, so why bother?"

To Have Cassia (The Goddess Of Chess) Glance My Way !! ... Have always loved the "Culture" of Chess ... Certainly the Aspect of no Luck Involved makes it a great thinking experiance but ! agree Also with Emanuel Lasker ... A Fight !! Science & Art play a Role . Gotta love those computers rather than dislike them as they have increased the Level of play . Chess is Chess ...
