Hourly RK arenas

Just being honest, the idea is great, but it will not work. Lovers_of_RK hosts about half to two-thirds of the active community that plays in tournaments. We have posted arenas throughout the day, some with reminders a day or two in advance, and all are clearly able to see on the team page (which isn't much different from looking for hourlies in the tournament page). Recently, as the community has started to flatten the increase in players in Racing Kings (many new players are turning out to be alt accounts or closed soon after opening) , less and less people have been participating in these tournaments. Even if we put tournaments at different times, it would not change. Our tournaments are always around the time of 16-18 UTC and that's been the most popular time period. People still do not show up to these smaller tournaments, and it won't be dissimilar if lichess hosted them.

In the team Lovers_of_RK, we host (almost daily) arenas around 16 UTC to 18 UTC. With 300 members in our team, we get maybe 20 players in a given arena and 30-60 players in team battles. These arenas that get around 20 players have the same 10 players every time and the other half are players who don't play a game. If hourlies were to arise for RK, it'd be very similar results.

Another thing to look at is the Daily RK arenas. There is a usual group of 15-20 players that play in those and anywhere from 35 to 45 would be an average daily. Anywhere North of 50, the usual group of Daily Players consider it to be popular. This would be the case for hourlies in other, more popular variants.

A final thing to look at is that Racing Kings players are more and more interested in lobby farming and seeks than tournaments. You can see this from the decline in percent-of-players-participating in tournaments compared to the group of players that can play in these. In team battles, we used to grab anywhere from 65 to 85 players. Now we expect around 40-50 players in a Team Battle. While, the lobby seeks for RK has gone from the usual 3-4 farmers in the lobby to 5-10 new lobby seeks popping up in a 4 hour period. The fact of the matter is that Racing Kings should be looking to increase its popularity rather than add more tournaments for the same players to just play at different times.
I have nothing against hourly rk tourneys, and so am I to daily ones, except they start way too early taking in consideration my local time. For me daily rk starts at 5 am,which is not the greatest time.I like the suggestion mentioned in post #30,that changing tournament times could do the trick. But,maybe there are good reasons, why lichess doesn't want to do that, and we shouldn't put too big pressure on the developers :)
