Here is an example

@publius121 in the 4 knights glek black can explode the center with d5. and in the ruy lopez black can open up the game with the marshall or just literally the open ruy lopez (5...nxe4) - my point is you can't force a closed position every game.

White can avoid the Marshall.

I know that the Open Ruy has gone out of fashion @tpr. I know about the various Anti-Marshall systems. My point still stands.

Oh yeah another debate between e4 and d4.

Well I do play d4 more than e4 cause it is interesting
Except the London
E4 is just plain like Italian and ruy lopez and scoth
But d4 has kia,nimzo,catalan,London,benko,benoni,stonewall etc......
So d4 is better against higher rated player cause it is more positional but e4 is more tactical
Why not prefer c4
