Lose Interest in Chess

That is the question. How would a person lose interest in chess? What would make the person lose interest in chess?

but yeah, you might one day just think

"why am i playing this?"

and quit chess; its a pretty hard truth but i think it is the truth nonetheless

For me, none of what you said is what I really find beautiful in Chess, no.

What I like most are really hard positions where, for instance, everything sort of make sense, like an opponent beating you but in a way where simplicity is mixed with an ultimate form of sophistication (which would be the plan for instance that each move uncovers).

Or for instance when you understand an engine move that seemed trivial 5 moves ago but that now reveal a threat you had no idea could exist.

To summarize I find beautiful positions/moves and their relations with each other. I find beautiful when the game follow a structure I see/know but top it off with a bit of amazing chaos.

It may not be very clear but feelings never are, I'm sure people feeling the same will totally grasp what I'm trying to say.

I also used to have a mindset like that. Chess was just a game to me, with good accurate moves and blunders. There was no 'Royalty' feeling in me for the Royals. There was no 'Sword Clashing' feeling for me when I moved the knights. But then I saw Gothamchess who taught the art of attacking and stop looking for stockfish best moves.

Many have lost interest in chess.
Morphy quit chess to pursue a career as a lawyer.
Fine quit chess to puruse a career as a psychiatrist.
Kamsky quit chess to pursue a career as a doctor.
Lasker preferred bridge.
Capablanca preferred domino.
Karpov preferred backgammon.
Fischer hated chess and it took a lot of persuasion by Kissinger, Slater, Saidy to make him play against Spassky in 1972.

First of all the game chess is a different game of all other games like one is fighting, others are racing and etc. But chess is a calm game nothing to do more but to think... So for me chess and Fortnite are favorite and chess is a game to think about and well fortnite is like shooting and all. But I don't know the spelling but chess is a uniqe game....
