Mamedyarov’s g4

Hi everyone,

What do you all think about g4, as played in Tata Steel by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. I’ve never played it and am wondering if any of you have used this, and if so, how it went.

I loved it! It actually totally brightened my day. I've played g4 on move 1 and move 2, but it makes a lot more sense when he played it since e6 blocks the influence of black's LSB.

I'm sure this g4 was played somewhere between moves 5 &10 ... It is a known idea these g4 or g5 breaks since A Phillidor 250 years ago'
