Letting time run out message bug

I got this message Warning, ConwyCastle. Letting time run out instead of resigning will result in a temporary ban. in a bullet game in which I resigned.

its prolly server lag or smt like that

no it means you have to"make a move our you will be banned"

I think it was this one lichess.org/7GwbofSz/white - so I had to think for a few seconds before resigning. I don't think the message was appropriate or useful. Quite frankly, letting your time run out in a bullet game is not going to cause much inconvenience to anyone anyway, so why badger players with unnecessary threats?
