On the other hand, Daesh is the Arabic acronym of "al-Dawla al-Islamiya fil Iraq wa al-Sham", which means pretty much the same thing.

Yeah though I heard they dont like it because it sounds like other arabic words which are insulting

No. The terrorist act has nothing to do with Ukraine
Actually, upon further research, it seems that the terrorist wackadoo organizations (al-Qaeda, ISIS, al-Shabaab*, Boko Haram) are overwhelmingly Sunni, which kinda surprised me. Apparently, they all follow a specific ideology of a single Sunni thinker from the mid-20th century.

*ironically fun to say
The terrorists were all of the "Religion of Peace." Islam. That is all we need to know.

A vanilla cake or a chocolate are both still cakes. This Muslim sect, or that Muslim sect, who cares. It is still Islam.

If one group of people does something wrong in the name of another group which they are not accurately representing, should we blame both?

That kind of fallacious reasoning is what leads to Islamophobia. And, to ironically use a cliche, if we give in to Islamophobia, the terrorists win.
