Especially if you you are in a tournament. The time could be used in other games. Also it must be extra annoying if you are a good ,serious player with a high rating. I dont have the high rating problem but its still annoying for beginners like me. It must be really frustrating when ranked and losing tournament time.

I read all you write. But. Do you thing when I find a driner and I'm winning and it do this I'm very upset or angry? I wait with pleasure the opponent time run, and... I drink a beer or a coffee enjoying!!!!! Regards

I love it when people leave or try to time out. I just stay on the page and they try to sneaky sneaky move with like 2 seconds left on their clock hoping I'll time out. Unfortunately for them I move a split second later and laugh at them while clicking the ironic "Good game" button. I also add a healthy dose of trash talk. You want to waste my time in anger -- sure, I'll use it to gloat over my glorious victory over you. After all, if you want to be a bad sport, so be it! It's hilarious.

how do you know the opponent simply doesn't see that he's being mated? You don't know anything for sure online! You are just assuming things! I have many times timed out because I was trying to find some way of drawing an endgame and because of too much concentration one forgets about the clock! I already lost the game so why should I be further punished for forgetting the clock? No fide rules like that exist, clock time is yours to handle as you please during a game. There is no rule stating that you must avoid loosing on time by resigning instead.

If you don't want to give up, and you want to play chess so badly, make a move.

There's a difference between timing out accidentally and timing out deliberately. And yes, you can be penalized for the later one over-the-board. And you will be penalized for stalling here as well. So don't waste anyone's time, it's pointless.
