Cant remember the middle game in a Draw VS a GM

Yesterday, I drew to a GM in an OTB simul! This is the start and end to the game, but I can't remember the exact moves in the middle game. Could anyone smarter than me suggest how the knight might have manoeuvred itself from C3 to D3, without any obvious blunders between the two positions at the end of chapter 1 and the start of chapter 3?
My best guess is that the GM would have manoeuvred it via the route Nc3-a2-b4-d3 because in putting it on b4 they might have been hoping to exploit the c6 square.

Apart from via b4, the only two other possibilities to approach d3 are via c1 or e1. Via e1 is too long a route. And neither possibility looks very constructive. After all, it isn't clear (to me) that the knight is better where it ends up on d3 than where it was on c3, so a plan like Nc3-e2-c1-d3 seems to lack any point at all.

I guess there's little hope of reconstructing the exact moves if you can't remember them. Lots of move orders are possible.

Disclaimer: I'm most certainly not "smarter" than you. It's no mean feat to get a draw against a GM in a simul.
Very interesting that he didn't go for check with Q on e7, d8 and takes on c7 in chapter 3. Just a straightforward win I think! Also funny opening choice by you.
Also the GM must have moved rook from e3 to e2 and back e3, to get your knight to d4 it first needs to reach f5 which attacks the e3 square

I think I was already scared of his attack by move 2 so, naturally, played an opening I’ve never seen before!
