Lichess Bans Keyboard

Yes because most players on lichess doesn't really use kb and it'd be unfair for them if they're playing against a kb player even if it's casual or not. Unless if both players are using kb then I have no problem with it. And no, I won't change my opinion about it.
Exactly @xShizu almost everything is unfair lol. Thats why I think lichess regretted putting ultra, because lag and input method is what matters.
keyboard players have a huge advantage over everybody else. They can move faster, and its much easier to use kb than to use something like touchscreen or mouse. the only people that are mad about this, are the kb players because they dont wanna lose their advantage over others. as a touchscreen user, its always annoying getting beaten by these, speed of light kb multi premover dudes. if you do officially ban KB,

Good Riddance.
Tho other thing that hasn't been stated about keyboard, is that it helps give players like me, (often with very low ping ..(usually about 20ms ) ) a fighting chance against lag compensation.

Where players with lag have so much time to see and make their move and the player with low ping has to almost premove everything just to stay even on the clock. Sometimes this is so pronounced that even a strong player can not only lose (but find it impossible to ever win) against a weak player simply because of their high ping.

Lichess seems to heavily penalise having good connection / low ping. This usually doesn't make much difference in 1 minute or even hyper, but can be very dramatic in ulra.
I have seen it suggested that ... "they should have just disabled lag comp for ultra, or cap it to 100, then there wouldn't be a need for kb in the first place".
Here is the thing, lichess needs to even both parties (of course mods are against it, since they don't play it and how many even play ultra??), I don't think banning keyboard is the right way to go, at least for ultra.
To preface: I don’t play anything faster than blitz, and I’ve never won or lost a game due to someone using kb. I don’t think bullet is real chess., and anyone who plays faster than bullet is a weirdo in my mind. I am not directly impacted in the slightest by the existence of the extension.

In sports, there have been many controversies about performance enhancing substances which give athletes an edge over their competition. Users of these substances are almost always penalized for undermining the spirit of fair play.

Fancy keyboard extensions alter the capabilities of a bullet player by improving their move speed, thus enhancing a player’s performance. Much like with PEDs, all players technically have access to the extension, but that doesn’t mean that using it is fair, since the game ceases to be a competition that adequately measures the true bullet chess ability of the competitors.
