3. Doesn't 3. Be2 ... refute the Smith-Morra ?
As Marc Esserman in his book points out, the Morra is quite sound and it is White who is fighting for the advantage. I always play it when faced with the Sicilian. I must admit that the transposition to Alapin with 3...Nf6 is the most annoying move for me to face and it is what I (usually) play when facing the Gambit myself
