It is universally accepted...ie an Australian investigation, a European investigation etc etc that china withheld info for at least two months and probably much longer. china, along with WHO withheld vital information until late January 2020. The origins of the virus date back to August 2019 -- see left wing Harvard study of the outbreak date.

@happysmile77 origins of this virus go back several years. The scientific community has been studying these type of SARS related viruses since 2012. Chinese scientists were publishing warnings about SARS related viruses in the their bat population for two years. The US is activity monitoring in their bat populations but it is somewhat moot since another disease is killing off the bat population.

Like I said, this was a completely predictable outbreak and both China and the US ignored their own pandemic planning and bundled their responses.

@Mopman Chinese scientist did not lie about the presence of SAR-CoV-2 but it is a communist country and public information is controlled by politics. Many countries took more immediate action than the US based on the readily available intelligence reports and what had already been reported by Chinese scientists and clinicians. The US Gov did acknowledge knowing about the outbreak from intelligence reports but the Trump administration, again, dismissed the credibility of its own intelligence and refused to take action.

The US will make a lot of noise and go through the motions of superficial sanctions but in the end China will simply remind the US Gov that they own over a trillion in US debt and the US will let the issue drop. The US Gov knows China is the world's superpower but pretends otherwise with its citizens. China is not worried about the US.
