> NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID
> lichess.org normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Chrome tried to connect to lichess.org this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be lichess.org or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.

It's related to letsencrypt changing its root certificate today (2021/09/30 14:01 UTC).
You may be missing the new CA cert.
You can get it here : letsencrypt.org/certificates/
And then install it in your browser and / or OS.

OS:

- Linux: put ISRG_Root_X1.pem in /etc/ssl/certs. Then run `sudo update-ca-certificates`.
- Windows: right clic ISRG_Root_X1.pem and select "install cert" (not sure, haven't used windows in a long time)
- Mac: don't know

Browser:

- Firefox: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/setting-certificate-authorities-firefox

You could also just update your OS and browser to its latest version and reboot. It should fix it.
Lichess may remain broken if you are behind a proxy (school, office, whatever) and the proxy isn't running the new letsencrypt CA.
I can recreate this on an old mac running 10.11.6 in Chrome.

Solution for me was to switch to Firefox.
I have a very old IMAC (2009) - It's on the latest version it can get (OS X 10.11.6). Is there anyway to still be able to use it to access Lichess? It's the same on chrome and safari (not secure) and I tried to download firefox, but it is not compatible with my version of OSX. I'll try to download an older version to see if it works.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!
