Do you consider the Petroff to be a tricky opening?

I know that some theory books say that it is rather a drawish opening. However, before I learned opening theory I thoght that the Petrroff was a quite dangerous opening. I want to know your opinion on this subject rather than specific lines of play. Think of this as a sort of survey that I want to make since I feel curious on how you think!

Thank you!
I do not see how in the world it could be a tricky opening. Yes, cochrahane is tricky, so urusov gambit is. But main line petroff? Obviously not.

I think its a beautiful opening, but I never see it
maybe this is my first game with white facing the petroff
because I always see the sicilian, e5, the french, the philidor
the scandinavian, modern defence...
but the petroff does not seem very common
I was gonna look at the database
but I dont find the option of searching through openings
but since I played it as black the other day, then I knew what to do as white
I played the mainline, one of the mainlines because white can choose more stuff like Nc3,
I think its beautiful, its like very, logical from a chess perspective
theoretical point of view, like
e4 e5, its very simmetrical, no, I think its beautiful for either side trying to understand whats going on at the board
but seems a bit unusual because there is the e file open
there are no queens but its not necessary an endgame since
there are lot of minor pieces, thats if u play like queen e2
which is what I played in this game
with the ruy is like one of those openings that are
fundamental no, thats the word fundamental
I dont know the history of chess but I think they played it
in the 90s where karpov was there,
but if its drawish its only drawish for gms because there
are too many resources in the pieces so
I guess its difficult, no like u play the petroff and u get
a draw no u still have a whole game
just because the queens are gone if he plays queen e2
white is better no, because he is a tempo up
so he probably finds a position where he can be comfortable
no, because I heard there are many lines so It can choose between them.

Petroff defense is very solid. Good choice to play for a draw or ... a win for black. But a bad choice for black if you don't like positional chess or endgames.

For the rest : Cochrane gambit is unsound imho. I've played it several times with white, and also studied a few master games with it. Also : good Petroff players are prepared for the Cochrane gambit, and have the defense ready, and play for a win with black.

Petroff's played at the highest levels, geared for static equilibrium a solid defense.

#4 What do you consider sound? I always thought it's an opening, which if both sided play perfectly lead to draw. Which Cochrahane does. It heavily depends on the exact definition though, as Cochrahane is certainly not the best continuation.
