Hikaru is 2900 Fide on Blitz. And there is no one rrally close to him in bullet or blitz.
He beats Firouzha. He beat Yan Nepomiatchchi 20-10, world #4 in Fide classical... Yes Carlsen is better but there's no one really close to these two in blitz. As to Classical, a lot of people are higher, but no one really has the same close rivalry.

Kasparov-Karpov was in classical. Magnus is loads better in Classical than Hikaru.
Hikaru is a great entertainer and streamer but he is No. 20 in the FIDE ranking with an Elo of 2736.
Magnus is No. 1 with an Elo of 2862.
Hikaru lost Elo so Magnus has stronger rivals today.
Chess is not an online esport yet .Over The Board tournaments will come back. In OTB chess, since 2010, the real fight is for the 2nd spot, between Caruana, MVL, Aronian, Kramnik, Ding Liren, Nakamura and some others.
Magnus and Nakamura have played 40 classical games OTB : 14 wins for Carlsen, 25 draws, only one loss. This is not what I call a rivalry...
Rapid and blitz OTB : Magnus Carlsen beat Hikaru Nakamura 61 to 31, with 66 draws.
Now if you say that there is a rivalry between them concerning online speed chess, it might be true.
