Did I just see a 2544 ELO guy give up a free piece on the 2nd move?

Bishop hanging, followed by queen hanging. But in fairness it was a correspondence game, so thinking time is limited.
It's more probably errors in the moves order:

A more logical order:
1 e4 d5
2 Nf3 Bg4
3 h3 Bxf3
4 Qxf3 d6
5 Nc3 Nf6
6 d4 dxe4
7 Qxe4
So did the import not work properly? If that's true, then explain these games by 2300 elo players:

Strong players play sometimes sub-optimal moves for extra challenge or fun. Also if they know each other they might be just messing around.
