Lichess report

Hello!

I recently got this message from lichess :
On Lichess, you *must* be nice when communicating with other players. At all times. Lichess is intended to be a fun and friendly environment for everyone.

Heres the thing, i have reported MANY people for insults and i have seen lots of them get banned after that, i received the message : Someone you reported was banned quite often. So i know not to ever insult somebody on this website but i still got the message from lichess, i assume somebody reported me and i would like to know how lichess handles report? Do they review the case individually or if you get enough report they automatically give you a warning?

I will admit tho that i said "coward" to lots of people for running away from games, could that be it? it is far from some insult i have received on this website and people that said worst to me are still not banned so i was wondering.

Every case is reviewed individually.

That is indeed probably it.

Chat bans are not public knowledge. Those people are probably chat banned, but you do not know that.

Does that mean that insulting other player only result in being "chat banned" because i only ever reported people for insults in the chat and like i said i got the notice that someone i reported was banned quite often? Is it something like a chat ban to start but if they continue they get a full ban?

Accounts banned from chatting cannot communicate with anyone, so they cannot continue. They might get a full ban though if they create new accounts to evade the chat ban.

Ho so if you get banned for chatting you won't ever be able to chat anymore? Its a forever type of ban not like 1 day or 1 week for example?

It's permanent. Until you appeal, let's say after a year, your appeal is accepted and ban is lifted. But this implies that you realized your mistakes and changed your behavior.

What annoys me with this automated message is that it gives you no clue what exactly it was for.

Well the volunteer moderators can't exactly spend all their valuable time trying to personalize every warning message to babysit every immature internet user who likes to insult random people. They have better things to do with their time.

Bro sure but there's also sincere users who may get this warning once in a while ...

Would be nice to have an automated system to alert you when you have been reported and what message that was? Like reporting is a button, just add another function to that button no?
