It scares me how fast opening trends spread

Game 6 of the WCC 2018 wasnt even over when I played this game and people already adepting to Carlsens opening play (>50% of the moves are with the same knight)

That game you show. It's not the same opening as what was in WCC game 6 played.
I'm confused.
The game you posted is literally different from WCC game 6 from move #`1. Not sure what you're getting at.
WCCG6 was the Petrov (also called Russian) defense (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6). What you showed is one of my fave defenses against 1.d4, the Budapest. You do have a point, though - the play at GM level can bring back many openings considered discredited.

I remember there was a time Kasparov was bringing back the King's Gambit, and some other GM brought back from the dead the Bird Defense to the Ruy Lopez.

It's quite natural if you think about it.
