The World Open tournament that was supposed to happen this July was obviously canceled, but instead of delaying it or canceling it they just decided to put it online, on ICC, the paid site. And to minimize cheaters you need to go on a Zoom meeting...
This is all really weird. Is anybody still gonna do the world open like this??? I'm not but what about you guys
It’s actually been great. Lots of fun watching the online events. To me it’s more Entertaining. If they can deal with cheating properly I hope they never go back. One thing tho what the hell is ICC?
I was going to for my 12th birthday and hope ti maybe win something like last year, but they postponed, so that was a disappointment. I feel that doing it online will greatly increase the cheaters that want the prizes, and overall I feel it’s just not worth it. So I’ll just wait until next year I guess.

@Timegod ICC is the Internet chess club. It's a really old chess website like lichess but you have to pay for it and its service is worse for what I've heard of
@TerryTheBoy They haven't updated their website yet - they just sent emails to everyone on their mailing list. If you search 'world open chess' they should update their site in a few days
I find it laughable, in more ways than one.

@FunnyAnimatorJimTV At first, I wasn’t sure if this was a joke, but my mom checked her email and you were right, it is online. I like their way of explaining it, and I am tempted, but I still most likely won’t go. Do you know whether this affects OTB rating or just USCF’s “online” category?
