Why are there male and female chess competitions?

Women are better then men at chess. 2.2% of the world top 1000 at women but only 2% of the world top million players are women. Fact is for some reason women don’t play as much.

@GMScuzzBall oh really ? Why did you stop at top 1000 then? Why not top 100?

@centaur01 Unless telling others my opinion which differs from yours is trolling, than I am not trolling as I mean what I said, female US president is bound to happen sooner or later (probably sooner), female world chess champion is not likely and only god knows whether it will happen one day or not but it certainly won t happen soon as there are no women with the potential to become WC.

1) Well, this is discussion about chess WC. Want to discuss politics, go to some other topic, maybe? (Also, we already have had woman president. USA or some other country isn't the main country or smth, lol.) - This offtopic is the main reason i called that a trolling attempt.
2) Potential to become WC happens like, hmm, during 15 years from birth. During 60 years that's quite possible to happen (and we need only one woman WC, not, like, 20 or smth :D). Anyway, I registered my belief about probability of that happening and will leave complex calculations to some other people.

3) Leela isn't human, despite what some would like to be and can't become WC in human category. :D

@centaur01 Well the part about Leela was a joke. And whether there will be female WC we will see in the future (the fact that there wasn t a singe female world champion (or even a serious candidate) throughout long chess history kinda tells us its not very likely there will be one in the next 60 years.

We, humans, are bad at predicting future. :) Let's meet in 2078 and have some old people drink or smth, there should bet lots of interesting things to discuss.
