Long ago I had a Chess program called Battle Chess. The pieces were figures of various creatures and when told to move...say capture a enemy piece...it would come to life and walk over and brutally kill the piece. The graphics were actually pretty good for the day. It also had sound...and You could hear a pawn scream out in agony when captured and killed. The program was quite popular. Is anyone making such programing these days? I can imagine that today's computer graphic technology would be able to make some pretty cool Chess animations. Is there a add-on so animated pieces can be played on LiChess? Also...I think that interest in chess could be gained by children, who could play with animated Chess pieces of say popular cartoon characters :]
