How many of you are covid chess babies?

Who else is here just because of the lockdown and lack of normal life?
I am. I used to play chess starting from age 8 and lasting until I was about 16 but then I wanted to focus on other things in my life (namely my education and career). Many years later, I got those things more or less settled so when the lockdowns hit I was very very bored so I got back into chess.
I’ve always loved this site and want it to exist and be played after COVID-19.
Dude, we play chess, most of us lack a normal life, covid or not....
@SasukeDime Arent those the same people who used to play in person but couldnt anymore so they had to do it online?
Chess is popular, but its not THAT popular.

I dont know a single person who took the hobby due to covid. Myself, while i played relatively often, could take weeks or months some times to play again. Like a decade since i played over the board.

But i do know many players in my same situation who were not too active anymore. The same local chess clubs we went a long time ago, all of them are making tournaments online and quite frequently. We are all playing again, at least more often.

So, yes, there was an influx of new players, but i can assure you that the overwhelming majority were the ones who didnt had an account because they played in person.
