Climate Disaster

<Comment deleted by user>
The climate summit in Rio was my A-level subject in school in: 1992...
So we must protect our earth, but...action is better than words...saying with words is useless, we must do it.

I know public transport well in NYC. Pricing has been consistent for decades: a one way trip is approximately the same as one slice of cheese pizza. That has meant that the price has doubled over the past twenty years. That can get you a maximum distance of 31 miles (50 km). But it's not a moneymaker.

That covers daily operations, but investments in infrastructure tends to be lacking. Overall the MTA (the agency running the public transport in NYC) runs at a loss each year.

Pricing for public transportation needs to be compared relative to the cost of private transportation, which ignores the environmental cost of pollution. Subways are significantly better for the environment than even green vehicles, but the price to travel per mile isn't significantly better.

The problem isn't that subways and buses are too expensive. They often have troubles turning a profit. The problem is that it's too cheap for people to drive cars.
Also some people want to drive their own car rather than take public transports because they view it as a form of freedom. Weird but true.
To much Acclimatizing going on here go out and play in Traffic.

If only that was an option in 98% our country.

Also in the case of the US - especially living out west, it would suck to lose access to the wilderness... so I'm more for efficiency/sharing/electric out here, our electricity is 90% renewable in this area too .
