Now that we are all safe from the evil Anons, even those who were unwilling or unable to uncheck a check-box and still insisted to play versus Anon players, while not able to deal with the circumstances that there are idiots out there in the world, I wonder if it would harm anyone if Anons would be able to chat with each other.
For me it has taken away a lot of fun.
I am unable to communicate. That is very frustrating.
Let me point out some situations where I would want to chat with my fellow Anon opponent.
- After a couple of fun games/rematches I usually wanna roll a cigarette and continue playing. So I wanna say "Hold on for a second please. Need a cigarette.". In like 100% of the cases play would continue after a few words in the chat. Now if I roll a cigarette, games are aborted, cause my opponent does not know why I do not move right away. You can replace "rolling a cigarette" with any activity that would take only a few seconds if you do not smoke.
- Sometimes it happens you recognize an opponent just by his play. You are sure you have played against this opponent the days before on numerous occasions. You never talked but you enjoyed the games, cause you liked the lines he played.
You eventually start to talk and your opponent recognizes you as well.
Chess friendships my arise. You have learned to know someone by chess only. Not by a profile first, but by the way he plays chess. This is not possible anymore.
- I am a nice person. I feel the need to say some friendly words when I played some fun games. I am raised like that and I am now forbidden to do that. That feels like Neo with a sealed mouth.
I do not want to continue to describe situations where Anons would want to chat, even if I could give you countless examples where it was so much better to play as Anon with the ability to chat. Frankly I never did care about rude people. I do not do that in the the world out there, and I especially do not care about unfriendly words on the internet.
As Thibault did state in another topic, the reason to mute Anons were spambots, I would like to ask if there could be compromise.
Wouldn't it be possible to deal with rematches played by Anon vs. Anon as if this games were "Play with a friend" games?
Like this, chat would be possible again, once both players have proven they are just anonymous chess players that are willing to play with each other again.
So I propose to earn the right to chat, by playing chess.
