Ratings

Can somebody please re-assess the points system.
11+ up
Three pawns and Queen

vs

King and (blocked) pawn

They win +7 I lose -6
I lost on time.

Utter nonsense
First reason you think it's nonsense is thats not how points are awarded. You only receive or lose points at the end of the game based on your rating deviation. (and the fact that ratings go too two decimal places so rounding can occur) Points are also awarded based on the strength of your opponent.
You lost on time, so you lost the game and lost rating points. The points are given based on whether you win/lose the game, and it doesn't matter how much you were "winning" on the board when you lose on time.
You seem to erroneously think that the material count is someway reflected in the rating.
Q+P+P+P-P = 9+3-1=11
The material counting Q=9 R=5 B=N=3 P=1 is only an approximate valuation to help in deciding on trades.
The aim of the game is to checkmate your opponent, regardless of material.
A checkmate with a lone pawn against a whole army counts just the same as a checkmate of a whole army against a lone king.
Losing on time is just like being checkmated.

Rating is totally different. It is based on your rating and the rating of your opponent and the result of the game: 1, 1/2 or 0.
Err, @lunchess has >4000 games. One would think, he should have had time to learn that rating has nothing to do with material at the end.
Thanks. To those who replied without being some sanctimonious arse !!
well if I'm honest the thread itself was both stupid and edgy to begin with.
Losing on time in a winning position is annoying, but that's just part of the game.
My currently "best" Blitz win (against a 2250 guy) also came about this way. Was left with king and pawn, and my opponent ran out of time three moves before mate.
Try to use premoves and focus on mating if you're in such a clear position.
