Not happy at all...

Hi all!

Seems that Lichess tolerate abuses. My last opponent, which had only 69 games played before starting a new one against me, quit the game without resigning, and been able to start another game against another opponent. This is strange because, in the past, Lichess added an impossibility to start another game if a previous one was not correctly ended.

Please, Lichees, get back to this way of behaving and don't allow a player to start another match if the previous one is not correctly ended.

Thanks in advance. Best regards.
They still get the warning for leaving the first game after so many times there is a disciplinary action. I believe.
I think that would require quite a programme rewrite, and slow the whole system down.
Because it would require games to be monitored for player presence on an independant server. ie. if the player is not present on that server, he / she is not "at the board". Otherwise the system just recognises each player as "logged on to LiChess".
This is quite a theme at Bullet Chess, where players will leave the game when losing, and all the winning player can do is wait for the clock to run down. LiChess does auto - monitor this activity though and automatically issues a warning to offenders.
Even though I note that the discussion here is mostly by Patrons like myself, we have to recognise that the fundamental core of LiChess is to provide a free chess playing resource. I also believe this is a more important consideration than kids not playing by the rules. To monitor and analyse each offending situation would take quite a lot of staff. Millions of games are played on Lichess every week. Personally I would rather tolerate the occassional inconvenience of idiots, than see LiChess impose a membership fee to pay for referees.
