Alex

Since I think at least some of these things will be mentioned by anyone that does comment here:

1) No, I do not currently have any contact with Alex.
2) Yes, I do have the next best thing to "kid mode" - I have an alt I hide in occasionally. It's a nice thing to have an alt no one knows about, isn't it? :)
3) Yes, I do block and report - this is not meant to be a blog to complain about moderation (which has been great!), but more so just to talk about my personal experiences. Blocking and reporting works great - I just feel that at a certain point when you meet this many people there's got to be a line drawn where we go "Hey, maybe there's a bigger problem here that we should get to the root of."
4) Not every person mentioned here said what they said on Lichess - I'm a trusting person and I'm also pretty much everywhere, so some of these conversations took place on other websites as once I know someone well enough I'll usually talk to them on multiple sites and not just Lichess.
5) I know that I made these situations worse for myself by not exiting earlier. That's beside the point though.
6) While I tell Alex "Gg, wp" we don't have to do that in the chess world! I believe that we can still find a solution.

I would love to see what some of your solutions would be! And of course, if anyone has similar experiences that they would be comfortable sharing, they are welcome to do so here.

I recently read this blog post and I do have to give my condolences to you. I am sorry this has happened to you and hope that the situation you are in does not affect your love of the game and most importantly your mental wellbeing. If you are struggling please seek help. I do believe that the topic of sexual harassment towards persons in the chess community should be brought to a wider attention and stricter punishments should be dished out since this is a crime of malice.

Best wishes,
@sludgejar

First of all, thank you!

I still play chess, but I rarely use this account for anything other than team admin/the occasional bullet game. :) As for mental well-being, I have some really supportive friends nowadays! So I'm really glad for that.
I've been told a bit about the situation, but I never know the real pain you were going through.

Im really sorry, and I hope you recover. We'll be here for whatever you need, to support you. It must be a real (sorry for the expression) pain in the *ss, but remember, you are stronger than a caro-kann! I know you can manage this.

Im sorry, hope you the best, gtk.

Ps: gtk, never stop managing sgo! And never stop playing those 1+0! Keep it on! ;)
Thanks @Banzai9!

"Stronger than a Caro-Kann" - I gotta remember that expression! Lol

No need to be sorry, you have all been really supportive.

And yes, I won't ever stop managing SGO! And hopefully you will see many more Botez Gambits in bullet soon :)

Now that I think about it, @mimi7789 did a similar blog about it, and I can't find it. Is this the same blog? I'm really sorry for both of you and hope you will recover, if that is true.

Stronger than a caro-kann, always!
Thank you for having the courage to share your experiences about sexual harassment in online chess, @greenteakitten. I imagine it can't have been easy for you to speak out about this subject, and as a fellow female player on Lichess, sadly I can relate to some of the experiences you have gone through.

I can also remember how writing about the same topic myself also led to more of these experiences, unfortunately. I hope you stay strong and stay safe, and all the best for your future.
