I am genuinely confused about why so much outright nonsense is on the internet now.
In olden days, we had a few periodicals that published "cow with two heads" or "martians stole my sister" stories.
But then something odd happened: real news started popping up in such periodicals from time to time. Actual journalism.
In olden days, the internet was a place where high-minded inquiries could be made with good result. And then something odd happened: the internet became awash in "end of the world" or "end of democracy" nonsense, as well as purple-haired novices explaining the world to people with ten times their life experience.
Or perhaps that's just nonsense. See what I mean?
