The bot
@XXIstCentury says it plays off a book off it's own 50000 game so how exactly did it get it's first few games
And what does it do if someone plays a move out of it book then which engine does it use ?
@MahtamaGandhi This isn't really appropriate for a forum discussion. Perhaps you could send a DM to the owner.
It is however a good general question (and to be honest, I have no idea).
@clousems well yes I'll do it if no good answer arrives but this is general stuff considering how famous the bot is
Is it really general? I'd think that the only one who is able to give you an accurate, informed answer would be the bot's creator, making it highly specific.
It's also why DMs probably are better, as there is likely to be a lot of avoidable misinformation spread in this thread. Just my two cents.

If you told me that you learn from experience how well various chess openings work, I'd think that the most common thing in the world. If you then told me that you were able to play your first chess games without a lot of experience I'd find that very ordinary.
I don't understand why you find it unusual.
@ahappybee oh thanks for the answer it was never mentioned on it's profile
This leads me to believe that it in it's early days was a complete stockfish bot
The bot would have been coded to play moves from a database of 50,000 games. The Heroku server allows the bot to be up 24/7 i think.
Maybe (@) thibault may be able to answer, after all he did code the amazing Lichess!
