Is Lichess attracting stronger players?

I used to be in the low 2000s and I would only dip below 2000 once in a while. Now I can barely hold 1960 or 1970 for a few hours. Either I'm just getting worse or Covid is making stronger players join up. Thoughts?
I haven't really noticed it. You can't really just say an either or situation here. You have to consider the fact that your performance to the pool can't always be consistent.

More than likely if you were honest with yourself your performance is lower related to something you are overlooking or doing less well than you were. Not necessarily that you are getting worse. You could be playing just fine and different players could be getting your number more often. Maybe you are seeing more people that naturally play to your weakness without either of you noticing it. I think in chess you blame yourself first with an open mind to other possible things, but if you are even a little serious about improving you blame yourself first.
@MeWantCookieMobile well said brother... its also hard to determine sometimes if your playing well and your opponent is just flat out killing it that day or if your playing like crap but what sucks is to be winning and leave that one opportunity and your opponent steals the win on what was otherwise a nice game but sometimes a 1900 just plays like a 2200 and sometimes a 2200 plays like a 1900
Yes, indeed, I just had a bad losing streak. I'm back over 2000 now so when I dipped to 1930 last night I was just not seeing anything.
I was found myself wondering the same thing as I’m in the middle of a 100 point slide. I’m a rapid player. Wondering if the Queen’s Gambit could be a possible influence. Or it could just be that I’m playing like crap. :-)
You all are just playing like crap and are looking for excuses. Period. ( At least your not accusing everyone who beats you down of cheating.)
Whats weird is to me its felt like the opposite of this, I don't feel like I'm playing any better and I still miss simple things, but now I'm steadily over 2k. One thing you can be pretty sure of though is that the queens gambit influx of chess players has little to no effect on the 2k + player pool.
Well, two answers.

1. Looking at your rating history, it's remarkably steady. Whatever happened that lead you to this post is most likely not statistically significant.

2. Do you use the analytics here to trend your performance? You can trend things like avg centipawn loss, opportunism, and luck over time by selecting the right filters etc. I usually see a pretty high correlation between my performance and my results, although over short stretches (10 games or so) my results may vary due to my opponents. In other words, I have had stretches where I play well but my opponents happened to play better than expected, so I lost even with avg centipawn loss that was quite low. Other times I've played poorly but won. But over longer amounts of time (or games) that noise balances out.

Anyone else find that the avg centipawn loss is a good indicator for them? I see mine dropping as my rapid rating increases over time.
