Lichess being dumb

Why in tournaments do you lose after 30 secs? that's bs just start the clock.
No that is reasonable, if the person is afk why should you wait on the starting position?, you would have aborted otherwise if not in a tournament. With an exception for chess960.

When you play a tournament just play your game on time do not let the other person waiting, or at least be prepared to lose some rating points which is fair. Not a big deal, do not get worked up for nothing..
waiting is part of the game for example e4-e5 one guy goes afk you don't lose after 30 secs.
Yes but unfortunately you cannot do anything in that case, since he has the right to think for his next move for many reasons. For instance his opponent can make 20 different moves. And when to draw the line afterwards.

But when not playing your first move after 30secs the most reasonable think to assume is your opponent is afk. And waiting your afk opponent is not really chess related or something we should really cater for. And the only cases I can think of when someone legitimately thinks about his first move are really extremities.
my connection cut out and I lost to a 2000 having played 0 moves do you think that is ok?
the clock should start both players and entitled to use their time as they see fit
