Today's World Meditation Day! :D

Meditation is a good thing,i think its resting the soul or mind,i find it boring but i find almost everything boring.Could sleeping be the same thing as meditation if u are not seeing a dream, just being still empty mind?
Meditation is very powerful in self transformation,
If truly while you meditate, you witness each thought and sensation, where they arise from - you will begin to really understand yourself more deeply. You will find parts of yourself doing things you didn't really know you did, and see it clearly - and in seeing it - healing it. And just simply, cultivating the ability to be calm, silent, and content is a powerful antidote to the necessity to be constantly stimulated in some way that many people have these days.. as it equates to more happiness overall due to being content with more situations, as life's wonders can be found in the littlest of places, and the smallest nooks - places you will not see or find unless you are silent, still, yet present for a decent amount of time.

No sleeping is not the same, sleeping is about your brain shrinking, and being soaked in cerebral spinal fluid for cleaning of built up detrius.

meditation is not just about having an empty mind - some may take that approach but there are many. Often it is actively observing what rises, and from that gleaning knowledge of your inner workings and outer sensitivities - note how you are bored, does the part of your mind saying 'I'm bored' just say 'i'm bored' a lot? Do you start thinking about your dog, or how you want coffee? Maybe a girl you met the other day? - when you notice these things, and you really truly sit with them, for 20-40 minutes at least, you will find that they begin to fade - and an inner peace and stillness replaces the busy thoughts.. people associate thoughts with intelligence, however it is not thinking that is always intelligence - you will find with a calmer more still mind, that your capacity for honed thought where it matters, is greatly increased.

> God bless you, that was very helpfull and educational
If you can ever find a group of people who like to meditate together, and maybe someone of that group has a good grasp on it - it can really help to get a bit of guidance and feel out what styles really work for you...

Sometimes that shared space with people can be really conducive to the experience (albeit it can be a little distracting sometimes too!)
I lived in a community of about 200 people who all meditated nightly in a hall together for an hour every day (and on some days much longer) - it was really sweet to share and it brought us all a lot closer. It eased out all of the tensions and strains of running a community of that scale. I fully believe if meditation was incorporated on a large scale in our society, from early ages, it would be incredibly transformative for us.

It's also funny cause like, a lot of tech millionaires and such really recognize the need to fully unplug and do this sort of thing for your mental health, to dive into silence and space with oneself... But overall the American capitalist machine does not much smile upon 'unproductive' moments in your day (which are really deeply 'productive') ;p
