Resignation in dead lost positions - your thoughts?

@ChessAddict1337

Don't know the point I clicked on your profile the first loss I found was this game.
In the light of this thread and your posts I found the game beautiful.
@Trottel2017 Even though you're defending my point, please stop using sexistic arguments. I'd rather say it's not that sportsmanlike to play on, which is certainly an important point we didn't mention so far.
1800 rating se ne preda kljub velikem materialnem zaostanku; mogoče je v bistvu začetnik in je z goljufijo prišel do tako visokega ratinga. Se mi zdi, da je kar veliko goljufije z ratingom.

1800 rated is being down a lot of material, but doesn't resign. Maybe he's actually a beginner and he got this high rating by cheating with rating points. I believe there is a lot of cheating with rating points.
So when you asked, "Your thoughts" you meant only thoughts that agree with yours?
@ChessAddict1337 Okay let’s just say you’re right for a moment. So what do you want done about it? Do you want Lichess to analyze every position and punish every player who is at a great disadvantage and doesn’t resign?
@Trottel2017 first of all I can't see that you provided any evidence to your bold claim "only women keep playing", secondly the nature of your argument is just very very sexistic. All I'm trying to do, is to keep this conversation on an objective level to make it worth of continuing this discussion. I felt like this discussion started to slip in a direction we certainly don't want to go.
You can have a "dead lost" position and be so far ahead on the clock that you can just flag the opponent and win. Depends on the time control and other opportunities at play. Sometimes you only need a few pieces to sneak in one last checkmating/swindling idea. You'd be amazed how many people get careless thinking they're so far ahead in material that there's nothing their opponent can do and then they lose anyway. "Dead lost" doesn't say much, you're opponent could still get careless and cause a stalemate with their excessive material. Either way, it's up to your opponent to resign. Sometimes people resign to me because they see a threat I made that I wasn't even aware of, which is good for me. Never resigning will definitely result in more wins and draws you didn't expect if you're playing blitz/bullet. Slower time controls are a whole other story but even then I've managed to snag some wins down a piece/rook. Just because you blunder doesn't mean your opponents going to follow up with a perfect game all the sudden.
It depends on how lost I am, and if I can see any potential tricks, for a stalemate, positional blockades, or moves that my opponent may miss the idea behind because as Emanuel Lasker said, the hardest game to win is a won game. If the path to conversion is blatantly clear, of course, I'll resign. If my opponent is a couple of pawns up, most often I'll make them prove that they can convert. I think when Ben Finegold said 'never resign', he was teaching a U1400 class. He's resigned plenty of games because he has the understanding of how the win is converted. So...

1. Do you trust that your opponent can convert the advantage?
2. Do you believe that you have any fighting chances such as tricks or blockades/fortresses?
3. Are you three pawns up, but your opponent has a gun under the table pointed at your crotch with a twisted smile on their face? (courtesy of IM Jeremy Silman).
4. Are you actually losing? (trust me, I've seen high rated players resign in a winning position and it didn't take any sort of deep analysis to figure that out).
5. If you know it's time to resign because you know how it ends and know that your opponent knows how it ends, do the right thing and resign. Don't let your clock run down, don't offer a draw, don't start giving up pieces as a sign of protest...

When to resign is your business and nobody has the right to tell you that you should do so.
@Trottel2017

Tell me how it is common knowledge? I didn’t know it and I bet no one else in this thread knew it but you. Stop defending yourself and just admit you made a stupid comment, otherwise you just keep embarrassing yourself further.
