Optimal OBS settings

I have recently started streaming and I am facing issues with a high rate of frame drops and occasional frame freeze.
It would be really helpful if you could tell the tricks needed to be done to get the stream more stable.

My Setup:
Windows 8.1
4 GB RAM and 2 GB GeForce 820m GPU
Download Speed: ~7 Mbps
Upload Speed: ~1 Mbps(yup my internet connection is a potato!)
Please let me know if I have missed any other information required.
Dropping frames is caused by bad internet. One of the ways to get around this BAD issue is to play with you bit rate in obs. Your setup isn't very powerful, but maybe, maybe you could try 720p with around 100 as your bit rate. Have a friend or family member watch the stream for a second to tell you how glitchy it is and tweak your bit rate from there. I just had that problem too.

I am currently streaming at 580p, bitrate is 750 and 30fps. Keeping the bitrate to 100, won't degrade the stream quality?
Maybe decrease the fps to like 20, it will be easier to handle and it will make the stream more stable.
I usually keep it on 30 and it works fine, but maybe you need to do otherwise.
It is good with some testing before using it.
Anyway, good luck in your future streams!
@Vycm Thank you for the suggestion, will tweak the fps in the next run.
Best wishes to you too! ( you might become a nice variant streamer for sure ;) )
with 4gb of ram you should really consider switching to a linux based operating system. Theres a little learning curve but just about everything is covered and its way less of a resource hog than win-doze... all in all good luck with your stream and games!
Lowering the bitrate, to my eyes (20/20 vision :D) doesn't lower stream quality. My internet is about the same as yours, so I know. Maybe put the resolution at 720p and FPS at 30 and the bitrate at 100 (or less). That way you get good quality while at the same time not getting glitchy. Make sure to have a friend watch too, as I said b4 (get the joke?). Anyway, good luck to you!
@Darksouls my system is dual boot with Windows and Ubuntu15.04 will check on what all dependencies required to stream from Ubuntu. Good luck to you too!

@Boss_Chess I will update the settings and see how things go, thanks for the help and yes I did get that 'b4' joke.
