Why people play with so little time?

@tpr
One of the reasons why people play faster chess here on lichess is becose of there is no quick pairing..
There are many reasons why someone would not play on custom:
- No adequate laddering( with custom games you or the opponent can pick the strength of players, meaning your laddering experience will be much less optimized - also any1 can check you first if he wants to play ranked with you before he joins)
- No convenient way to find a game - with quick pairing you can click a button and you are matched against opponent of very similar strength
- Faster to find an appropriate opponent

Not having the longer time controls in quick pairing is one of the reason why there is less people here who play slower chess - go check out the other websites, i.e. chess.com or playchess. (there are always players up who play 30+ games)

leages 30+30 and 45+45 that you mentioned are tournament games right? That's so much different ..so yeah..

But let's stay on topic here, OP asked why there are so many people playing fast chess, i am pointing one of the reasons and i assume he would like to see more slower games here on lichess.org hence i provided the link

Cheating is also an issue. At longer time controls it is easier to cheat and more difficult to detect.
Eye strain from staring at the computer screen is also an issue.

I do not know from where tpr got this information. It is a questionable assumption. Even at bullet, it is very easy to "cheat" for those so inclined. There are many methods. The time control is not a factor. Regarding "more difficult to detect" again this is an assumption and not based on any knowledge of detection methods. In many aspects, it is easier to detect cheating in longer time controls.
One can easily and correctly assume that more players use computer assistance at the shorter time controls.
@tpr

I think it is easier to cheat with longer time controls, but they can still cheat on bullet.
Eye strain is not a problem for me. My eyes are very good, if look at my profile you will
see 2 months ago I played for 6h and 35min straight. I do not use glasses.

@savagechess2k

It is a good way too think the problem is with you and not the clock, but still most
people will play better on that game with more time. In blitz you miss so much
opportunities, and I don't like that. Nakamura rating is not 2x mine (3006).
I do not play blitz serious. My blitz rating means nothing to me. Many times I let the
clock run out thinking on the move. To think on the position is more important than
the victory for me.

@notfast102

I never abandoned a game, if I must go, I give up, these people are annoying, but
I don't know why, they are less common now. They are many in past, but now in my
experience they are something about 1%. But I block when they do that.

1)less cheaters
2)more games
3)allows to test openings faster
4)its fun
if y'all think there are less cheaters on blitz because of the time control and that you need to check the engine move and then do it yourself, you should try to investigate ways of cheating, looking at the engine move and then doing it yourself is one of the most primitive methods of cheating. Most people think that because they are playing 5 or 3 minutes games the other wont have the time to check the engine and as a result he will loose on time(not true).
to be honest with you people, if the person you are playing against is a "smart" cheater he wont ever be detected. thats why if you are looking to play a fair game you should play otb.
