Game starts but UI freezes - I cannot click or do anything in the lichess UI

Hi, I've played a lot of games last days on my laptop but the last couple of hours it is nearly impossible to play.

Everything works fine but when the game window loads, everything freezes and the circle next to my handle and the circle next to my opponents handle both sort of blinks. The countdown to start the game freezes at 19 seconds.

I've restarted my computer, tried another browser (Edge instead of Chrome) but same behaviour.

Any suggestion what this can be? Mouse and touchpad works fine otherwise, it's just in the game state it freezes. Not possible to enter moves using keyboard either.

Thanks
OK, so I switched to Firefox and it seems to be working again.

Both Chrome and Edge gives the above irregularities.

Strange error, I haven't had any problems before - using Lichess since 2016.
OK, so I continue my investigation :) it seems my sounddriver was also malfunctioning (i e no sound). After I reinstalled it, I can now play on lichess on all browsers...

Can it be that having sound activated on Lichess together with a faulty sounddriver causes this problem, and that somehow Firefox handles this in a different way than Chrome/Edge?

Well, I'm just happy I can play again and hopefully someday these three posts will make a difference for someone besides myself.
As a sysadmin, I can assure you, faulty drivers can cause all sorts of weird inexplicable stuff. As for why it works in Firefox, probably some client-side script hangs when trying to play sound, causing some kind of side-effect and rendering the whole UI unresponsive, and apparently Firefox deals with it differently. Just a random guess though, there's no way to know for sure at this point.
