Big Boss Division and Rookie Division in Low Rated Chess League

Hello all,

First of all thank you for all the members that could join today for the tournament. We tried swiss and later moved on to Arena because of the time control was taking too much time for each round. But we are all getting experience to get the best format to everyone to enjoy. It was good to share opinions on the chat, so as I'm going to take care of them as follow:

Because we are already 50 members we can at last make divisions. Big Boss league aim to >1600 rating players and with games rated, and Rookie Division for <1600 rating players and with games unrated.

Don't worry so far about the point system that after the matches I'll explain in detail. I need to see both rounds for the Big Boss Division to clarify myself, but sugestions are welcome. I'll update classification as well, but due all changes everything is going to reset. We are growing and developing so the rest tournaments and classification will be update for the archives team. Extra points will be consider for the 3 first positions in old seasons.

Tomorrow will be the first round in swiss format for Big Boss League, in 5+3 time control (rated as I said) and six rounds: lichess.org/swiss/hPOpH27i

And on wednesday will be second round in arena format for Big Boss League in 10+0 time control (rated), 90 minutes long: lichess.org/tournament/CJPGvDQT

You'll share me later opinions which format you prefer for next rounds.

And for the Rookie Division we'll have first round next wednesday same time Big Boss League, with 10+10 time control (unrated) and 120 minutes long in an Arena format: lichess.org/tournament/0sRkfc1o

I hope you all apreciate this, and the activity and participation is very importan, so please join.

A big hug!

P.S. New players are always welcome to the team: lichess.org/team/low-rated-chess-league
Are there enough players to warrant splitting it up? 15 was a good number today and I believe there were only 4 1600 players, so that could be a very small league.
Yeah, I think there will be enough people. Today I got messages from people that couldn't join it but will joing next rounds. Please register so as people would see how many we are in each division.

@NoahSchade there is no minimum requirement to play in the Big Boss division, anyone can join. I will also play with them.
Yes, the rating is orientative. So if you feel strong enough Big Boss Division is for you. And for those like me that's maybe too high, I'll keep on the Rookie one. The restriction comes to join the Rookie division so as to avoid abuse from big bosses playing on it, so there is a max. rating of 1600 to join (it will take into account rapid rating, but I'll revise and if a player have <1600 in rapid but higher rating in other time control he/she can't join either). I will all revise it. And if you are in between you can choose.
Why not have a maximum of 1800 on the big boss league so the standard doesn't get too high. I think the attraction of the club to me is that there is a maximum standard.
There is that maximum of 1800 @JeremyIsFishing already. I do it by accepting or not accepting the request from people who want to join the team (because to join that tournament you have to be part of the team). I revise their profile so if they are not low rated players I don't accept the request so they don't quilify, so don't worry about that. There is not going to be any `players beyond that. It's two division but in a low rated league, but one with the upper-low rating players, and the other with the lower-low rating players.
So if ever anyone from the team gets over 1800 then they are out of the club.
Well, not that way. There is a margin and if we all develop the rating will be higher with the time. But if someone with the time is +2000 I think is logic that the league isn't for him or her. There is not that problem yet.
