Loxodonta afrikana closed his account... strongest player.

Too bad. I enjoyed watching his bullet games. Said he was a candidate master. Anyone know the story?

I was curious yesterday why he was not in the list of top players anymore and checked his profile. A remark could be seen that he played with computer assistance. Shortly after the account was closed.

It doesn't say he used computer assistance right now.

Recently on FICS: (I used to play there, same name as here).
CRAZYMODO, a very old GM account (more than 10 years!) lost its rating because of cheating. (That`s what they do there: If you finger a cheater, it says "never played rated games". By the way, I was just visiting FICS to see if there where any changes. Zip).
So, that creepy lox account, playing perfect games, I was sure that was cheater. Could not be just an IM or even a low level GM, let alone a Candidate Master only...

Would like to hear what the admins have to say about this. How is cheating in a 1 minute possible? That's the main reason I play 1 minute games. Was the program he was using making the moves for him?

He just decided to close his account and now he start with a new one. No cheater's label was on him. You probably just confuse with another user http://en.lichess.org/@/Loxondonta_africana
that was fake. Real Loxo played fair.

I can officially confirm that #2 was misled. The real Loxodonta had a booster mark ('artificially increases rating') shortly before the account was closed as loxodonta gave away lots of rating to random players by resigning 2 or 3 moves in. Not an engine mark.

But all of loxodonta's games were fair and legitimate, let no-one say otherwise.

I can't imagine he was cheating. He would need an engine for normal chess, 960, King of the Hill, and Three Check. He was tops in all 4. Don't know how you could cheat a fast 960 game or Bullet. He could have hacked into the site I guess with a bot, if that's even possible.

He did post that he did not want anyone messaging him. Maybe that was bothering him.

I could not understand though why his rating fluctuated wildly from below 2600 to 2800. (increase/decrease rating black mark). I want to believe he was legit.

#9 see #8. Loxodonta was not cheating. That is official.

What he did yesterday was to suddenly give away all his points to other players. He resigned game after game, just 2 or 3 moves in, and gave away over 1000 points in rating across several rating categories (bullet, 3-check, etc).

Artificially increasing people's rating is against the rules, so he had to be marked as a booster.

But please note that he never used engines and no-one ever insinuated that he did (though of course, he was regularly investigated, being a top player; he was clean across the board, and rightly so as he is a great player).
