Why would you want to decline the LM title?

I thought they stopped giving out the LM title? Anyway, maybe someone would want to decline it because they're aiming for an actual title which LM wouldn't count as?

Believe it or not, before I verified NM, I did have the LM title. I absolutely loved it, but it had some major drawbacks.

1. I would get tons of people asking me how to get LM. Literally got spammed. Everywhere: Simuls, Tournament Chats, Messages, Forums, etc.

2. This was the main reason. There were a bunch of haters, that really brought me down. They would tell me that I am weak cause I don't have an actual title, and that LM is a pity title, and a lot of other stuff. And there were lots of them.

Probably stupid reasons not to keep such an awesome title, but I guess at that time, these reasons discouraged me from keeping the title. I don't know if LM players are still experiencing these things.

yes, everyone wants to be LM but lichess says not to ask for it, otherwise he won't give it to us

@ChIpZeL I was about to ask for an LM title from @lichess but i won't now. I would love to have it one day so won't ask them.

I don't want to discourage you guys or anything, but I was one of the last people to become LM. and it was a pretty long time ago. Also, I don't think there is an LM with ratings below 2400.

Doesn’t it say in FAQ that LMs aren’t handed out any more?
