Virology

Sorry for taking a topic about studies during covid but i have a doubt about virus that is why can't scientists change the RNA of virus to immunity virus like gives immunity when this virus goes inside or taking the spike protein attach immunity cells into it if it works it can be a world defensive mechanism to protect us from disease. If some virologist know it please clear my doubt by typing the answer in this forum
same primal but im a long time from being in school , but im willing to see what more clued up folk say
As I understand it a vaccine involves introducing a weakened or related stain(cowpox/smallpox) ,or now a portion of the genetic code of a virus to the bodies immune system spurring antibodies to develop a defense mechanism to the virus in question Vaccines do not fight the virus directly.
Additionally there is the danger of only creating a more robust virus. This is the law of unintended consequences.
Viruses in their inacive or weakened form is inserted to a Human's body through a Vaccine. Vaccines make the body immune to the disease for which it was taken and the cells remember them further for fighting with the virus again.
If I understand the OP correctly, is he saying that a weakened non-lethal variant of a virus could intentionally be allowed to spread throughout society normally and therefore provide immunity (to those who catch it) to the more concerning variants of that virus?
