recently batsman changed to batter as it had man so to encourage women name became batter so that no particular gender is supported or promoted . so i feel the word human also has man in it and all people r called human despite being women also so like batter human can be changed to people or any other word which doesn't support any gender . This will be another step towards women empowerment .

That's mostly because we were so used to BATSMAN. And ngl when I was a child I used to think why they were not called batter
