The best band ever is Led Zeppelin

The Lemon song, now there is some sexy blues.Squeeze my lemon.
Btw really a lot of range in the group,The Battle of Evermore,Over the hills and far away,D'yer maker
The song remains the same,When the levee breaks,The ocean song,The rain song, and I could go on and on, Rock and Roll for instance and of course stairway to heaven though oddly enough I liked the original early version with the flute better though both were excellent. I do admit Stairway was a bit overplayed which is why it is known as "The Forbidden Song" in music stores.Almost every guitar player of my generation can play that one at least to some degree.

> I wouldn't go that far as to say that Led is the best band ever... but they are for sure one of the best - objectively speaking (if that even is a thing nowadays). And yes, they were super influential - no doubt about that. I've heard that they are considered to be one of the earliest Metal bands - alongside Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. So it is only natural, that that Canned Heat influenced a lot of younger people - EVH is said to have taken inspiration for his tapping style from Page. Queen, a very popular band, was greatly influenced by the Lead Balloon. Of course, the list goes on and on.

> However, we shouldn't forget the Beatles - I would argue that they were (and are) more influential than, well, than any other band before and after. And given that the Beatles too had "talented" band members, there is a case to be made for the Beatles as "best band ever". However, I totally agree with #13 - Zeppeling for sure holds up in any competition.

Impressive that you managed to write that whole post without mentioning the Rolling Stones, being the better version of the Beatles and whatnot.
(Gahdam, am I opinionated or what?)
Besides, zeppelins shouldn't be made from lead.
I mean, come on. Use your button.

Fear not, I too have very (how do you put it?) subjective feelings about topics like music. I personally never enjoyed the Stones much (aside from the obligatory Angie, Paint it Black, Satisfaction). I don't consider the Stones to be superior to the Beatles. While I don't like everything from the Beatles (I've mentioned it several times before, I don't really love their earlier stuff. Too much love for me - I will however take gladly anything after Rubber Soul), i still have to say: They've influenced the whole music industry for decades to come. I mean, the Stones guitarists and "show-appearance" is also highly influential, however compared to the revolution (9) the Beatles brought, in just one decade (!), I do think it is appropriate to crown the Beatles the Kings - regardless of if you like 'em or not. Likewise, although I enjoy Elvis's versions of songs, I think that it is Buddy Holly or mabye Fats Domino or Chuck Berry who has to be crowned the true King of Rock'n'Roll. And Buddy himself didn't have a long time on this earth, yet look at what he accomplished (aside from treading on the Crickets).
TL;DR: I see where you're coming from, however I personally believe that the Beatles were not only more influential, I also prefer their music more than the music of the Rolling Stones. After going down this Helter Skelter, I think I'll listen to some Rush songs, but stay on topic I'll just post something related to Ooh, My Head: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DUb-nMC2Wo

You are right - that's one reason why Keith Moon (!) didn't join the band. Well, anyways, as far as I know, the Yardbirds were called by Entwistle (you know, "Thunderfingers") a Lead Balloon - because they would go down like - you know, a balloon made or lead. So Moon stayed with The Who and after the breakup of the Yardbirds, and after the "ban-hammer" on using the name The New Yardbirds, they decided to go down as a Lead Zeppelin - and to not go down as leed, they opted for Led Zeppelin.
>without mentioning the Rolling Stones

The Stones aren't mentioned often in these threads. Aversion to Mick Jagger's prancing? My favorite period of theirs in 1968-1972 with Mick Taylor on lead guitar. OK, here's the definitive list of top bands that no one asked me for:

1. Beatles
2. Rolling Stones
3 to 8 (?), in no particular order: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, others

>The Lemon song, now there is some sexy blues.

I see that they added Chester Burnett to the song credits. But the lemon squeezing lyric (you know what I'm talking about) are from Robert Johnson's Traveling Riverside Blues. Surely, he deserves a credit for those memorable lines. :)

I love Led Zep's version of Traveling Riverside Blues.
@VEBMP I find it really horrible that this kind of garbage is put in a thread that is actually about Led Zeppelin.
