Should compassion and empathy be taught at school ?

No. It reminds me of compelled speech. You can't force someone to think a certain way, or say a certain thing.
They should screw math and teach just this at school, in order to show compassion and empathy.

Regarding whether compassion and empathy can be taught, it seems some babies are born with a more natural capacity for it, but it can be developed and nurtured to varying degrees. www.psychologytoday.com/intl/blog/the-empaths-survival-guide/201706/four-reasons-why-people-become-empaths-trauma-genetics

And should it be taught? I think parents should speak to their children about having empathy and compassion for others as part of their normal upbringing, and demonstrate it as well.

Should it be taught at school? Probably yes, as part of that new subject they call "Personal and Social Education", I don't remember that being a thing when I was at school, a few years ago now!

Ouch...but I think you can either understate or overstate your ability...he has chosen to call himself Dimwit, but at the same time is 2300... whereas you are LordSupremeChess and are 1500 (nothing wrong with being 1500 btw). Although actually I don't think chess ability is anything to do with why he chose to call himself that, I will let him explain his username if he wants to.

And, for the record, @TeenageDimwit is an extremely kind and empathetic individual and much as I like to roast him and troll him hard at every possible opportunity, one thing he is not is a dimwit*.

Thanks all for your comments. Appreciated !

Sorry. I didn't mean it to go that far... but no point in going back now.

I know. I love making jokes though (but sometimes I do go a little bit far)
Also, I'm hoping to get better in chess soon, just need to find the time with high school coming up, and with my mental torture ending just weeks ago, the only chance I got was the marathon, but I did very well. In fact, I got back all my rating I'd lost a year ago!

Sharing is caring is taught to nursery school children , yet millions of humans are without clean water or sanitation, while others are building space ships for space tourism if we don’t set children a good example why do we expect them to grow up anything other than greedy for what they want too . The distribution of wealth in the world is ridiculous and only getting worse we can have empathy and compassion but if we are not willing to share and change the situation of those in the poverty trap then...................God help us xxx
