Recently I finished Jane Eyre. I had read it as a high-schooler but enjoyed it even more this second time. Right now I'm reading "The Oresteia", a trilogy of tragedies by Aeschylus. It tells what happens to Agamemnon and his family after he returns home from the Trojan War (could this be an early fanfic based on The Iliad?). I also just started "Pure Invention" by Matt Alt, which discusses Japan's influence on modern culture.

Jane Eyre was an extremely vivid read for me, I could not put it down.

Is The Oresteia a poem? How difficult is it to follow? Rachel, you have some good reading choices.
I'm also reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and a couple of science books and a book about WW2. Some people might find that confusing but I've always read multiple books at the same time. Anybody else do that?

Someone, Gerald Fitzgerald(?), tried that in the 1500s. Guess how he was horrifically executed by annoyance to death.

Right. That is the most brutal idea out of the dark ages too.

Anyway, how brave.

I used to do that as a kid. For some reason I stopped doing it when I grew up.

Now this is interesting: When I was a child as well as when I was younger, I used to read one book (fairly quickly too compared to my standards now). Today I can't read just one book - if I want to read a book I have to have at least two so to not lose focus. Oftentimes I read a couple of pages and then grab the other book, read a chapter or two and then either go back to the first one or simply stop the reading session.

Haven't read that one, but as I like reading crime thrillers I would definitely give it a go!
