Polish government tells citizens to gather sticks for heating, stick it to putin.

From the beginning of the conflict in ukraine, after it had become apparent that Russia will win, America and the European countries adopted a strategy of economic warfare, where they sanction russian industries, companies, individiuals, banks, etc.

the reasoning behind this strategy is as follows:

1-the sanctions will destroy Russia's economy.
2-the economic problems will impoverish and anger the russian population.
3-the russian population revolts and overthrows the government.
4-western victory.

but we are now months into the sanctions regime and the russian economy is holding on... while you see economic pains in the west, such as shortages in food, gas, gasoline, and an overall rise in prices. the biggest problem it seems is figuring out heating in the coming winter. which brings us to the story. here is the article " www.euronews.com/my-europe/2022/06/03/poles-told-to-gather-firewood-amid-soaring-energy-prices "

here are some highlights:

> Authorities in Poland reminded citizens on Friday they can forage firewood from forests to keep warm amid soaring energy costs in the country.
> The government said it was taking steps to make it easier for people to collect firewood in an effort to ease the pressure created by sky-rocketing energy bills and shortages of coal.
> “It is always possible, with the consent of foresters, to collect branches for fuel,” said deputy climate and energy minister Edward Siarka.
> Opponents of the ruling ‘Law and Justice party’ said the comments showed it had not got a grip on the wider economy. Inflation in Poland has climbed to 14 per cent in recent weeks, with fuel prices hitting 8 zlotys ($1.87) per litre. The average monthly wage in Poland is around 7110 zlotys ($1800).
> "We will all be collecting brushwood,” said Donald Tusk, leader of the opposition Civic Platform on Friday. “Because this seems to be the latest idea to prevent Polish poverty that Law and Justice has prepared for all of us.”
Hmm, conclusion - The West should impose more sanctions on the terrorist country Russia.
Why people are so concerned about Ukraine vs Russia? We should stop this instead of staying here, crossing our hands and talking about "nyah nyah, Russia will lose because their president is as dumb as Kim Jong Un (Tebboune is the world record)".

We need to write an armistice to stop this international conflit now, I'm honestly sick of these forum posts about Ukraine and Russia, and declare peace between both camps, offering a draw offer ?!?! Any way this international problem can be solved is needed, just stop this.

Whoever wants to stop this war like this, and whoever does not want to stop this war dislike this.

I'm tired of people who command on the forum what to write to others and what not. If you are tired of reading about it - you have the opportunity not to open and not read this topics.

I want peace, too. But this isn't a friendly game of chess. This isn't even a tournament game of chess. A win or loss has real-world repercussions. They aren't fighting just to see who would win. They are fighting for land and resources. Any settlement that forces Ukraine to surrender land/resources to Russia is a Ukrainian loss. Any settlement that doesn't is a Russian loss. Russia will probably win the actual war-- the question is whether or not it will be Pyrrhic.

Wait, wait, what? Who the heck started out thinking "Ukraine's gonna kick Russia's ass!" The narrative was pretty much "Terrorist Russia wails on defenseless nation" until the Ukrainians started showing that they had a pretty competent military. Anyways,

Western victory in a war between Ukraine and Russia? That'd be a neat trick.
Reason no. 3 is an obvious pipe dream, and I can't imagine that was a real factor in the decision.

Russian economy holding on, in picture form:

(PS-- not even Russia is claiming that its economy is "fine". The CBR-- a fairly pro-Russian source of Russian economic news-- is discussing the need to adapt to a new, more challenging economic status quo in pretty much all of its bulletins. Considering the sorry preexisting state of the Russian economy, that is what we economists call "pretty freakin' bad")

Yo forum police here - stop clogging every thread up with a bunch of strings of quotes and then saying "I don't understand"
