Moscow terror attack

It is sad, and I guessed that Russia would blame Ukraine regardless of any facts - even with Daesh taking responsibility.

Lo and behold less than 24 hrs later they have some made up story doing exactly that

Well that's not exactly surprising, is it?

I mean why would ISIS strike Russia now? And they "took responsibility" through some Telegram channel as far as I am aware. Who's to say it's really them?

It *could* be them, sure. It could also be Ukraine. Or it could be the US. Or it could even be Putin organising an attack on his own people to blame Ukraine. As far as I am concerned, it's 50-50 (or rather 25-25-25-25).

That's their official means of providing announcements so... And you may not be aware but a lot of islamists do not like Russia anymore than the rest of the west. Especially in Dagestan and Chechnya. So why would this be any worse time than any to attack? There's a lot of prestige for them, in carrying out a successful attack at the heart of an enemy country. Russia and Daesh have direct conflict in Syria, Mali and other places in Africa.

And they just foiled a Daesh attack in Moscow 2 weeks ago... lol

And what would the point of such an attack be for Ukraine or the US? It works counter to their aims, and is very risky.

Not to mention the US literally warned them about the attack.

To a Machiavellian government like Putin's as you recognize - attacks like these are events around which the government can increase patriotism, ramp up mobilization, conscription and recruitment.

So regardless of who did it, it's clear Russia is likely more interested in capitalizing on it than letting the truth be known. And while I don't think it was a 'false flag' per se - it is possible that it was preventable and ignored by the regime on purpose - the 1 hr response time of the cops was highly suspect.

Maybe that's how they have always done it, but I wouldn't say it makes it "official". Am I mistaken to think anyone could set up a telegram account and claim to be ISIS?

Yes I am aware the US warned them. Putin denounced it as bkackmail. I am not saying he's right, but it could make sense in principle (also as a side note Egypt and other intelligence services did warn Israel of an imminent Hamas attack).

Yes, they don't change their telegram acct - they correspond with 'Amaq News Agency' - who likely makes sure they're talking to the right source as well

Yes I know, and similarly they may have not taken actions for political reasons

Also Daesh released body cam footage from the terrorist attack... I think that puts to rest the doubts pretty well.

VVVV DO not click this link & watch the video, unless for some reason you want to see terrible violence.

Whoever putina is willing to blame for it, we now know how vulnerable he left the country after years of special operation.
Condolences to all affected. Attacks on civilians are always wrong.

Putin should answer some questions. I've seen that:

It took security forces one hour to arrive.
No security check, people could bring bags and whatever. No metal detectors.
No security personnel on the site. Are there any resistance on any of the videos? (No, I didn't watch any, not my thing.)

Despite the warning from USA. Was the FSB (ФСБ) unaware? Gross negligence.

If I'm wrong on the above, why that many victims?

No, I'm not telling where I read that.
Another thing, it's funny that Russia say that the terrorists was moving towards the Ukraine border.

It it is easy to cross it it means either:

Russian forces on the border colluded with the terrorists.

or

The Russian forces are grossly incompetent.

or

Both.
My prayers go out to all peoples regardless of faith, nationality or culture who suffer loss from terrorist attacks.
