Is Lichess.org is better or Chess.com is better?

chess.com is better, but now my (newly created) account is gonna get closed probably

I have a question. I saw a post on the first page about how everything that is free on lichess is pay to get on chess.com.

How does lichess make money effectively?

They don't, really. People pitch in and make donations while they also make some money from people buying merch, but its more like a charity run for chess. (note: kinda paraphrased from a google search)
