If you could change the one rule of chess, what would it be?

I think I would remove the en passant...

Remove Castling long(0-0-0)

I would change the objective of the game from checkmating the king to capturing the king

Me too. The rule "king cannot move into check" makes chess a worse game. Lots of draws in high level chess.

I would make a new rule .
In the event of any draw or loss by Dukedog, Dukedog is declared the winner.
I'd make GM in no time at all.

Seriously I wouldn't change anything about standard chess,I like it as it is and variants do exist.

I'd remove the queen and add a climate piece instead that can just float above the board.

In that case that would make chess boring to play. Because only one person can ever win it.

I would make a huger board (10x10), and more interesting pieces (like the Camel, Amazon or even the Lion from Chu Shogi).

It's just one extra step. It would just allow the possibility of hanging your king.
